Alexander Dennis and CAVForth2 extend autonomous bus trial

UK – UK bus and coach operator, Stagecoach, and its various partners (Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) and Fusion Processing Ltd) announced a five-mile extension of the existing 14-mile autonomous bus trial (CAVForth) from Edinburgh Park station across the Forth Road Bridge in the UK to gather more complex data, utilising an upgraded version of Fusion’s CAVStar autonomous driving software and ADL’s Enviro100EV electric bus. The Cavforth2* project is set to go live and open to the public on this specific route in April 2023 with buses staffed by bus “Captains” to issue tickets and respond to queries.    

The project has received further UK government funding. Alexander Dennis’s Head of Concepts and Advanced Engineering, Jamie Wilson, in welcoming this additional funding, said:
