Volvo delivers its first electric concrete mixer truck to Cemex

Volvo FMX Electric truck delivered to Cemex

Sweden / GermanyVolvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has delivered its first fully-electric concrete mixer truck to Mexican building materials firm Cemex SAB de CV (“Cemex”), who will use it at a ready-mix concrete plant in Berlin, Germany.

The inception of the truck goes back to 2021, when the two companies signed a collaboration agreement on electromobility solutions. Volvo has mounted the concrete mixer on an FMX Electric truck, powered by two motors (330 kW) and four batteries (360 kWh). The mixer is driven by a hydraulic system deriving its energy from a traction battery. Volvo claims that the truck can complete a full day’s work with a single recharge during the driver’s regular break.
