By Bradley Osborne - 4th March 2023

Germany – Components manufacturer Mahle GmbH of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg has announced that its wind tunnel for climatic testing has been outfitted with a charger which will be used to assess the safety and performance of electric vehicle fast charging.

The direct current fast charging system which Mahle has installed provides up to 350 kW of power in under five minutes. This charging method can potentially lead to overheating in the battery and even in the vehicle cab. Original equipment manufacturers need to ensure that the battery does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius while it is charging, or else it could be damaged.
