India: Rigid truck sales increased almost 50% in the first threequarters of fiscal year 2022-23

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India increased by 46.3% in the period for April to December of 2022-23 to 181,934 units from 124,367 units in same period of the year 2021-22. Production of the rigid trucks increased by 35% to 198,820 units in the first three quarter year period of 2022-23, from 147,258 units in same time frame of 2021-22. Exports of rigid trucks grew by 48.3% to 9,274 units, up from 17,931.
Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks sales (7.5t to 12 tons) increased by a modest 7.1% to 25,297 units from 23,614 units in the same nine months of the previous year (2021-2022). Production increased by 6.6%, but export sales fell by 36%.
