USACummins Inc, a powertrain manufacturer based in Columbus, Indiana, has announced it is investing more than USD1bn in its U.S. manufacturing facilities in order to kickstart production of electrolysers and fuel-agnostic engines.

On 3 April, U.S. President Joe Biden visited the Cummins Power Generation facility in Fridley, Minnesota, where Cummins is investing USD10m. From 24 April, a production area measuring 89,000 square feet will be given over to the manufacture of electrolysers, an essential component in the production of green hydrogen. These will be made under Cummins’ new ‘Accelera’ brand. 100 new jobs are expected to be created by 2024.
