France – Refrigerated trailer manufacturer, Jean Chereau S.A.S of Ducey, France, has announced a four-year partnership with European fleet operator, Girteka, to tackle fleet decarbonisation through utilising Chereau’s more efficient refrigerated trailer offering. Owning over 8,000 refrigerator trailers in its fleet, Girteka aims to start using Chereau’s new Vacuum Insulated Panel technology in Q4 this year which will increase insulation by 20% for long-distance transportation and thereby decrease the use of fuel for refrigeration cooling. It also increases the range of refrigerated trailers with battery-powered electric units.

Chereau, in a statement said “tests conducted in France Cemafroid* and Chereau show that, in long-distance transport, the refrigeration unit consumption is proportional to the insulation level, allowing significant gains with high-insulating performance vehicles. The tested semi-trailer equipped with a longitudinal and vertical ATD-C rail system obtained a record K coefficient of 0.27 instead of 0.37 with the classic Chereau range.”
