MAN battery-electric truck being tested in northern Sweden

Germany / SwedenMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, has announced the successful completion of cold climate testing for its upcoming battery-electric long-haul trucks, set for market launch in 2024.

Four prototype trucks were tested over a four-month period in northern Sweden. MAN engineers tested their overall energy management, the cooling and thermal management of the batteries, and the effect of temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius on powertrain components and charging. The trucks featured different battery, e-motor, transmission, axle, and cab configurations.
