UK / Germany – Ceres Power Holdings plc, a fuel cell system manufacturer based in Horsham, UK, has signed an agreement with both Linde plc (Linde Engineering) of Munich and Robert Bosch GmbH, based in Stuttgart, to validate the performance, cost and operational functionality of its solid oxide electrolyser cell* (SOEC) technology used in the production of green hydrogen. Costing GBP 100 million, the two-year demonstrator project of a one-megawatt (1000kW) SOEC system will be undertaken in 2024 at Bosch’s site in Stuttgart, with the aim of proving that the technology is both cost-effective and highly efficient in helping decarbonise industrial operations.

Currently in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, the first 100kW electrolyser module is being tested and initial results are providing confidence that this technology can deliver green hydrogen at <40kWh/kg, around 25% more efficiently than other technologies.
