NFI Industries to deploy 50 battery-electric trucks as part of Southern California project

Volvo VNR Electric and Freightliner eCascadia trucks taken on by NFI Industries

USANFI Industries Inc, a logistics firm based in Camden, New Jersey, has taken on 30 Freightliner and 20 Volvo electric trucks as part of a regional initiative in Southern California to trial heavy-duty battery-electric trucks in real operations at scale.

The Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI) was first launched in 2021. Its public and private sector partners began by installing chargers in the Greater Los Angeles area. In December 2022, Schneider National Inc, another logistics firm (headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin) taking part in the project, started taking deliveries of 92 Freightliner ‘eCascadia’ trucks. Now NFI Industries is taking 30 eCascadias and 20 Volvo ‘VNR Electric’ trucks and deploying them in operations between Los Angeles’ ports and distribution centres across the metropolitan area.
