Germany / USA – At the past Hannover Messe exhibition this April, chassis components supplier, Dana Incorporated of Maumee, Ohio, USA, announced the development of metallic bipolar plates engineered to maximise the performance of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers used to produce hydrogen fuel. The product is currently in prototype testing and will be ready for commercial production by the end of 2023. Dana confirmed that the company currently supply two million bipolar plates a year and that this new generation product with improved performance will increase sales. To support this anticipated rise in demand, the company is currently installing Europe’s largest production line for metallic bipolar plates at its facility in Neu-Ulm, Germany, allowing an annual production capacity of 8 million units.
