Iveco Bus to supply 140 articulated hybrid buses to a Prague-based transport operator

Iveco Bus Urbanway Hybrid

Czech Republic / Italy – Iveco Bus (a brand of the Iveco Group NV) based in Turin, has won a tender to supply 140, 18-metre Urbanway articulated hybrid buses over the next five years to the Prague Public Transit Company. With the first order expected in Q1 2024, the Urbanway was chosen as part of the 2030 Prague Climate Plan, which calls for 75% of the buses in the city to be completely emission-free or low-emission vehicles.

The Urbanway will be equipped with four double doors and offer a maximum capacity of 130 passengers, including 35 seated. The bus features an electric drivetrain developed with Voith, delivering a reduction in energy costs and CO2 emissions compared with previous generations. The Urbanway includes a 48 V battery coupled to the DIWA NXT gearbox and the FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engine, supported by a powerful 35 kW peak electrical recovery motor, which acts as a starter and generator to recover the kinetic energy accumulated during deceleration and braking. The new vehicle is also available in a Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT version) under the name Crealis.
