FPT Industrial is a brand of Iveco Group N.V. (EXM: IVG), dedicated to the design, production, and sale of powertrains and solutions for on- and off-road vehicles, as well as marine and power generation applications. Over 8,000 people across ten production sites and ten R&D centers work for FPT Industrial all around the world. Active in nearly 100 different countries, its global sales and its Customer Service department supports all Brand customers. The extensive product offering includes six engine ranges with power outputs from 30 hp to over 1,000 hp, transmissions with torque up to 500 Nm, and front and rear axles from 2.45 to 32 tonne GAW (Gross Axle Weight). FPT Industrial offers the most complete line-up of natural gas engines for industrial applications on the market, with power outputs ranging from 50 to 520 hp. A dedicated ePowertrain division is accelerating the path towards net zero-emissions mobility, with electric drivelines, battery packs, and battery management systems. This extensive offering, and its strong focus on R&D, makes FPT Industrial a world leader in industrial powertrains and solutions.

Strategy

FPT Industrial strategy is based on two main principles. On the one hand, to continue to invest in even more sustainable internal combustion engines with an alternative multi-fuels-focused approach, and on the other, to position itself as a provider of zero emission solutions by extending its value chain into the area of electrification, through ePropulsion systems and energy storage solutions.

Sustainability Goals

Consistently with its strategy which involves the parallel development of new and more environmentally friendly ICEs, with a wider array of alternative fuels currently used or being tested, together with hybrid and 100% electrified products, FPT Industrial is moving steadily towards the net-zero carbon emissions target with a comprehensive approach that not only includes its plants, products and processes, but also other potentially carbon-emitting activities, such as its attendance at major international fairs.

These efforts rely on continuous research activity, with ten R&D Centers all around the world, greatly contributing to creating the foundations of a new, viable definition of sustainability which will place equal emphasis on business development and the fight against climate change.

FPT Industrial offers today the widest natural gas – one of the most eco-friendly fuels for internal combustion – engine range in the on-road and off-road markets, offering solutions from 136 to 460 hp for light, medium, and heavy vehicles in the on-road segment, and from 55 to 172 kW for off-road machinery. The methane-powered solutions represent an effective fuel alternative for sustainability purposes: these eco-benefits come together with a competitive TCO – thanks to the proven reliability and fuel economy of the Brand stoichiometric technology. FPT Industrial’s natural gas engines can deliver the same torque output, and therefore the same performance, as diesel.

FPT Industrial is well on the road to electrification: In 2022 the Brand inaugurated its new ePowertrain plant, fully dedicated to the production of the brand’s electric range including electric axles, electric central drives and battery packs for light commercial vehicles, minibuses and buses. This opening marked another important milestone for the brand in its decarbonization path and for its strategy of achieving net-zero emissions for its products and of all its industrial activities.

Description

The array of services FPT Industrial offers to customers who rely on its powertrains is not only intended to deliver maximum uptime and to minimize potential problems and issues, but also to limit the environmental impact of any maintenance activity. Through the MyFPT App and the Control Room, connected engines can be remotely and proactively monitored, forestalling costly failures and limiting the trips to workshop to the bare minimum, saving time, money, fuel, and naturally emissions. MyFPT by Customer Service offers many base warranty options from a minimum of 12 months up to 24 months with variable operating hours limits depending on the application and even unlimited hours.

At the same time, the company’s Original Reman remanufactured parts are the best, sustainability-conscious alternative to new ones, with environmental and financial benefits for all involved. Used cores don’t end up in landfills. The remanufacturing process uses about 80% less energy than manufacturing, with 28 Mt less CO2 emissions per year.
