Workhorse presents latest Class 5-6 electric step van at ACT Expo

The W56 by Workhorse

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, held between 1-4 May 2023, Workhorse Group Inc of Sharonville, Ohio showcased its newest product, a Class 5-6 battery-electric step van, which is slated for production from the third quarter of this year.

The ‘W56’ is based on what Workhorse says is its first fully-designed, purpose-built chassis platform to be built from the ground up. It offers cargo space exceeding 1,000 cubic feet and a payload of approximately 10,000 lbs. The body features a lowered step-in and wide cabin door to allow for easier entry and exit. The motor is a beam axle propulsion system from Linamar Corporation, as per a supply agreement struck late last year. Together with 210-kWh LFP batteries, the W56 powertrain provides a range of approximately 150 miles.
