USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, held between 1-4 May 2023, Hexagon Purus ASA of Ålesund, Norway and Hino Motors Manufacturing USA Inc of Novi, Michigan showcased a prototype Class 8 battery electric truck which the two companies developed in collaboration, following a long-term agreement signed in March.

The prototype is based on the Hino ‘XL’ 4x2 configuration, but fitted with a powertrain assembled by Hexagon Purus, including its proprietary battery systems, auxiliary modules, power modules, and control software. The partners plan to launch serial production by the end of next year; the production models will be distributed through Hino’s dealer network in the United States, providing maintenance and aftermarket services. They foresee the delivery of up to 10,000 units by 2030, currently valued at around USD2bn.
