Hexagon Purus opens battery and hydrogen storage systems facility in Canada

Hexagon Purus battery & hydrogen storage facility in Kelowna, British Columbia

Norway / Canada – In April, Hexagon Purus ASA of Ålesund, Norway opened a new facility in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada for the manufacture of battery and hydrogen storage systems for heavy duty vehicles.

Hexagon Purus says the 60,000-square-foot facility will have an annual production capacity exceeding 1,000 battery systems. Up to 150 engineers and assembly technicians will be employed at the site. It is implied that more than just product assembly will take place at Kelowna, as Todd Sloan, Executive Vice President at Hexagon Purus, said that the site would serve a dual role as factory and “technical center of excellence for everything zero emission focused”.
