BorgWarner to supply battery packs to Georgian electric bus manufacturer

BorgWarner Battery Packs

Georgia / USA – In May 2023, CV powertrain components giant, BorgWarner Inc of Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, announced a raft of major orders, including supplying its battery packs for a series of electric buses in Georgia. While few details were revealed about the vehicles or their intended use, the battery packs will go to an electric bus manufacturer in Georgia. Last year, BorgWarner purchased German battery manufacturer AKASOL AG, headquartered in Darmstadt as it bolsters its presence in the battery manufacturing industry.

The battery packs contain safety features including current overcharge protection, cell-level passive propagation resistance, and electrical disconnection at the individual cell wire bonds that satisfy international safety standards. Additionally, the 98 kWh packs offer active cooling and deliver industry-leading energy density of 274 Wh/litre and 177 Wh/kilogram.
