India’s LCV truck sales enjoys strong gains in 2022-23

India - Sales of LCV goods carrier vehicles (light trucks) of gvw ≤ 7.5t grew by 22.6% to 559,150 units in FY 2022-23 from 456,032 units in FY 2021-22. Production of light trucks increased by 19.6% to 611,356 (511,376), but export sales shrunk by 6.1% from 58,331 units in FY 2021-22 to 54,779 units in financial year 2022-23.
The lightest weight segment, GVW ≤ 2t, saw sales improve by 12.6% to register 192,982 units in FY 2022-23, up from 171,461 units in FY 2021-22. Exports fell marginally by 4.9%, while production increased by 11.1% to exceed 200,000 units. Tata ACE model sales dominates this segment.
