Imagry trialling autonomous Otokar buses in Israel

Turkey / Israel – Otokar Otomotive ve Savunma Sanayi AŞ (“Otokar”), a manufacturer of buses based in Sakarya, Turkey, told T&BB at the UITP1 Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona that it is working with Imagry Ltd, a tech firm based in Haifa, Israel, on an autonomous bus.
Imagry’s self-driving technology employs vision-based perception, using 11 cameras installed around the bus. This is combined with real-time mapping capabilities which negate the need for pre-downloaded HD maps; the software learns its environment as the vehicle navigates and receives visual information from the cameras.
