Okan Bas Karsan CEO

Spain / Turkey – Turkish bus manufacturer, Karsan Otomotiv Sanayi ve Tic AŞ (“Karsan”) of Bursa, at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona from the 5th to the 7th of June, announced it was celebrating the sale of its 700th electric vehicle, according to Okan Baş, CEO of Karsan during a press conference at the show. He said the company now has a presence in 20 countries, with a leading market share in Luxembourg as it continues to push for a global presence. Exhibiting its very latest zero-emission models, the 6-metre e-Jest, 8-metre e-Atak and 12-metre e-ARA Hydrogen bus on the stand, Baş announced the company’s goal for 2023 is to double the sales figures of its electric vehicles, having sold 330 last year.

A particular focus will be on Italy, he said, as after signing an agreement in 2021 to supply Italian public procurement company, Consip SpA, with 80 e-Atak buses, it is to provide another 27 units of the same model by the end of 2023. These electric buses are to be supplied to Italian bus operator, Start Romagna, and are to operate in Romagna.
