Volvo sets up Texas base for autonomous truck trials

Sweden / USAAB Volvo of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced that its ‘Autonomous Solutions’ division has opened offices in Fort Worth, Texas, USA which will act as a base for future road tests of self-driving haulage trucks. 

From the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Volvo will test autonomous trucks on freight corridors to El Paso and to Houston. The idea is that self-driving trucks of the future would handle these straight hub-to-hub routes before handing over to human drivers for last-mile deliveries.
