Heliox electric bus charging infrastructure set to be used at First Bus depot in York

Heliox Rapid 150 kW (kilowatt) charger

UK / Netherlands – Work has started on electrification of the First Bus depot on James Street in York, UK, with electric charging infrastructure provided by Dutch EV charging company, Heliox BV. Some 28 Heliox Rapid 150 kW (kilowatt) chargers are being installed, which are capable of fully charging a bus in 2.5 hours. Stonewood Electrical has been contracted to electrify the depot with the depot set to go live by the end of the year.

The project is costing GBP 23.2 million, with First Bus investing GBP 13 million and the additional GBP 10.2 million coming from the UK’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Area (ZEBRA)* funding scheme. This all comes off the back of another project being carried out by First Bus and Heliox in electrifying its depot in Leicester.
