GM acquires Israeli battery software startup

GM and Algolion partnership

Israel / USA – Last month, Detroit-based vehicle manufacturing giant, General Motors Company (GM), acquired Israeli-based battery software startup, Algolion Ltd*, for an undisclosed fee. The proprietary software helps detect early battery defects and will aid GM in developing an early hazard detection system for batteries. The value behind this software is that it doesn’t require additional hardware or sensors to monitor minor changes that have the potential to impact battery health. This comes at a time when OEMs are investing billions of dollars into EVs and the batteries that power them.

The founders and the rest of the Algolion team will remain based in Israel and join more than 850 employees at the GM Technical Centre in Herzliya, Israel.
