USA – Last month, Detroit-based vehicle manufacturing giant, General Motors Company (GM), announced a USD 632 million investment into its Fort Wayne assembly plant, in Indiana. The investment will go into preparing the plant for the production of the next-generation internal combustion engine (ICE) full-size light-duty trucks. The company is looking to strengthen its light-duty truck business by gaining market share. Product details, manufacturing numbers and dates of completion are not being disclosed currently, but what we do know is that this investment will support new conveyors, tooling and equipment in the plant’s body and general assembly areas. GM says it has committed USD 31.6 billion in American manufacturing investment since 2013.
