Blue Bird unveils next-gen electric school bus

Vision Electric school bus

USA  – Late last month at the STN Expo West inside the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada, American school bus manufacturer, Blue Bird Corp, based in Macon, Georgia,  debuted its next-generation electric school bus (Vision Electric), with more range (209 km or 130 miles) and increased passenger size (77 seats). To be manufactured at Blue Bird’s facility in Fort Valley, Georgia, the school bus utilises 196kWh batteries, which offer 25 per cent more capacity than the previous generation of Vision school buses. Additionally, this bus has fast charging capabilities, allowing the bus to be fully charged in three hours. Furthermore, this generation is 450 kg (1000 pounds) lighter, making it more efficient than its predecessors. The powertrain remains the same as in the previous version and comes from Accelera by Cummins.
