UK truck registrations grew 17.2% in Q2 2023

UK – The UK market for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs, i.e., trucks >6t) in the second quarter of 2023 grew 17.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to statistics published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

11,174 units were registered in total, making for a fifth consecutive quarter of growth. Articulated truck registrations grew by 23.3% to 5,121 units, while rigid trucks increased by 12.5% to 6,053 units. The top five body types were (in order): tractor units (5,047), box vans (1,153), curtainsiders (897), tippers (888), and refuse trucks (496).
