Vanner launches serial production of new DC-DC converter with silicon carbide technology

USA – Power conversion specialist Vanner Inc of Hilliard, Ohio has launched serial production of a new range of voltage converters for electric vehicles, using silicon carbide solid-state switching for higher electrical efficiency.

Dubbed ‘Hybrid Beltless Alternator’, the 600-ampere DC-DC converter follows on from the previous product of the same name which was launched in 2011. With the preceding 300-ampere converter, Vanner supplied manufacturers such as New Flyer, Gillig, Nova Bus, ElDorado National California, and Tata Motors.
