DAF set to launch new generation DAF XB city distribution electric truck range

Netherlands DAF Trucks NV based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, announced that it is set to launch a new urban distribution truck adding to its battery electric vehicle line-up with the addition of the new DAF XB Electric (7.5 up to 19 tonne GVW). The new truck will go into production in Q4 2023 at the DAF factory in Eindhoven. The vehicles are equipped with a powerful e-motor offering nominal power in 120kW or 190kW ratings and a nominal torque rating of 950 and 1,850Nm respectively (2,600 and 3,500Nm peak performance). DAF is deploying a cobalt and magnesium-free, lithium iron phosphate (LFP – Lithium Ferro Phosphate) high energy density battery pack with a configuration of 141kWh up to 282kWh. These allow XB Electric ranges of up to 350km on a single charge.

The XB also features advanced driver assistance systems, including the AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System), Turn Assist to detect cyclists in blind spots, Drowsiness Detection, Speed Limit Recognition, and Lane Change Assist. The company is also offering comprehensive support with charging advice, route planning and training services for drivers.
