UK allocates £10m funding package to Universities for net zero transport research

UK –  UK transport secretary, Mark Harper announced plans to launch a new research hub (the Net Zero Transport for a Resilient Future Hub), involving a collaboration between Newcastle University, Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh), the University of Cambridge and the University of Glasgow, to “develop innovative ideas to ensure future transport infrastructure is low-carbon and resilient.” GBP 10 million has been allocated to this collaborative research programme; the funding is to come from the Department for Transport (DfT), National Highways, HS2 Ltd, Network Rail and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
