Otokar acquires Mauri Bus System, securing its foothold in the Italian market

Turkey / Italy – Otokar Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi AŞ (“Otokar”) of Sakarya, Turkey recently acquired former coachbuilder and dealer Mauri Bus System Srl of Desio, Italy, as part of a general push to increase its market share in the country.
Mauri Bus System was founded in 1921 in a workshop for repairing vehicle bodies. In its long history, the company has turned its hand to various business activities within the bus industry, including body building and parts distribution. It claims to have achieved a number of firsts: the builder of Italy’s first aluminium-bodied articulated bus; Europe’s first trolley bus with an emergency diesel engine; and Italy’s first 12-metre bus with a low floor throughout.
