Orange EV launches heavier duty electric terminal tractor at IANA Expo

The Husk-e pulling two intermodal containers

USA – At the Intermodal Association of North America Expo, held between 11-13 September in Long Beach, California, Orange EV of Riverside, Missouri launched a heavier duty battery-electric terminal tractor, to be sold alongside its current ‘e-Triever’ offering.

Called ‘Husk-e’, the new vehicle has a gross combination weight rating of 180,000 lbs, more than double that of the e-Triever. Orange EV says it can pull the heaviest loads, including a bomb cart chassis laden with full-weight twin 20-foot containers, at a speed of 32 mph. The Husk-e can also handle “faster-paced, maximum-load operations at steeper grades”, according to Orange EV.
