USA – In mid-September, a month-long trial of the first autonomous shuttle on public roads in New Jersey began at Newark Liberty International Airport, using technology developed by Perrone Robotics Inc of Crozet, Virginia.

The trial is being conducted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, together with Perrone and civil engineering firm STV Inc. A GreenPower ‘AV Star’ minibus, retrofitted with Perrone’s ‘TONY’ self-driving technology, will transport up to 14 passengers in normal operations across the airport.1 The vehicle will have an onboard safety driver throughout the pilot.
