UAW members vote for strike action against Mack Trucks

USA – On 8 October, the United Auto Workers union of Detroit, Michigan announced that its members voted to reject an agreement between the union and Mack Trucks Inc, a subsidiary of Volvo North America based in Greensboro, North Carolina. 

On 2 October, Mack Trucks said it had reached a tentative agreement with the International UAW and the UAW Mack Truck Council. The five-year collective bargaining agreement, covering approximately 3,900 employees, included the following terms: a 10% general wage increase in year one, a compounded 20% increase to general wages over five years, and a guarantee of no increases in health insurance premiums throughout the term of the agreement.
