Don-Bur and Allied Bakeries unveil new double-deck trailer

The new high-volume box van double-deck trailer

UK – British trailer and bodybuilder, Don-Bur Bodies & Trailers Ltd, based in Stoke-on-Trent, has teamed up with Allied Bakeries to create a high-volume box van double-deck trailer. Space for 52 UK pallets per trailer, the new high-volume box van design focuses on maximising space, making each trip more efficient and reducing CO2 emissions by reducing the number of daily trips. According to Richard Owens, Technical Support Specialist & Marketing Manager at Don-Bur, this product utilises “a partial moving floor at the rear, which is achieved using an internal tail-lift.” Allied Bakeries plans on rolling out these trailers across its fleet over the next coming years.

With a height of 5 metres and a fifth wheel height of 1.09 metres, there is space to allow for internal heights of 1.8 metres on both decks. Don-Bur claims that “the high-volume double-deck trailers will replace two single-deck equivalents, nearly halving carbon emissions for every delivery.”
