Germany – Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg has partnered with German energy group, EnBW and the town of Wörth to set up a joint venture (JV) to explore the possibility of producing and using geothermal energy. Whilst in the early stage of development, the JV called WarmeWerk Wörth GmbH, aims to first establish the geographical possibility and suitability of geothermal energy extraction in the area surrounding the town. Once this has been established, the next stage will be securing the necessary funding to build a geothermal plant in the town. The renewable energy produced will be able to supply the Daimler truck plant in Wörth and the surplus energy produced will be used for Wörth’s heating networks. This renewable energy source can help both Daimler Truck and the town achieve its climate goals in reducing CO2 emissions.
