MAN unveils redesigned front axle for transit bus and coach at APTA Expo

New MAN non-driven front steer axle for buses in North America

USA / Germany - MAN Engines & Components Inc of Pompano Beach, Florida, USA used APTA EXPO in Orlando, Florida, last month, to announce development of its uprated non-driven front steer axle, the MAN VOK-08-F Bus Front Axle, specifically for use in the added gross weight of clean energy buses such as BEV, HEVs and other hybrids in North America.

Tom Baurmann, director, Components Division of MAN Engines & Components at APTA said the new variant - MAN VOK-08-F bus front axle - is a fundamental redesign of its predecessor model, the MAN VOK-07, with a sturdier supporting structure offering an increased payload of eight metric tons. Baurmann said MAN had made this change to meet the growing weight requirements of its bus customers, stemming from the increasing use of hybrid, hydrogen, and battery-powered drivelines.
