ADL launches next-generation electric buses

Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV and Enviro400EV

UK – Earlier this month at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre, Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) of Larbert, UK, launched its next-generation electric Enviro400EV double-decker and Enviro100EV single-decker electric buses. Initially, these buses are to be offered in the UK and Ireland. They have been designed and engineered in-house, from the ground up and are to form part of ADL’s zero-emission product offering. Series production has begun in Lambert, Scotland, with the first deliveries set for Q1 2024.

The 11.1 metre Enviro400EV is equipped with a 410kW peak and 310kW continuous power electric motor supplied by Voith. The NMC lithium-ion battery (LFP) system is provided by Impact Clean Power Technology. These batteries (either 354 kWh or 472 kWh) are mounted on the chassis, providing a range of 313 kilometres (195 miles) or 418 kilometres (260 miles) on a single charge. The e-bus has a 96-passenger capacity, with up to 80 seats and has the optional capability of roof-mounted charging rails for pantograph charging. Besides increased visibility for the driver, a new TFT driver display makes the display more “car-like” than previous generations. ADL worked with Grayson Thermal Systems to design the climate control system.
