USA / France – Paris-based gas supplier, Air Liquide S.A. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Houston, Texas based Trillium Energy Solutions (Trillium USA Co LLC) to establish a hydrogen refuelling network for heavy-duty vehicles across the USA. Air Liquide said that in the initial phase of deployment, it plans to refuel 2,000 HDVs per day. This is calculated to require roughly 150-tonnes of hydrogen. Currently, both companies are assessing the viability of the project.

A viable hydrogen refuelling network, should, in theory, incentivise fleet operators to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen-powered trucks across the USA, helping to decarbonise the transportation sector. Air Liquide and Trillium Energy state they plan to combine their strengths in hydrogen production, distribution and refuelling infrastructure deployment to deliver this project.
