Hexagon Purus expands production facility in Germany

First phase of the expansion in Weeze, Germany

Germany / Norway – Earlier this year, Hexagon Purus ASA of Ålesund, Norway, announced plans to expand its hydrogen fuel storage tank factory in Weeze, Germany. The company is set to build a new multi-million Euro production hall on the Weese site, with the intention of doubling production capacity to meet rising demand for its hydrogen storage tanks. This will require 90 additional staff, more parking and office space and a hydrogen refuelling station.

The expansion project is set to take place in three phases. The first phase, which is scheduled for completion by the end of the year, will see a new 5,000 m2 production hall, bringing the overall production area to 16,000 m2. Following from this, new social spaces, meeting rooms, office spaces and workstations will be built in Q1 2024. Finally, additional hydrogen refuelling stations will be built on-site. The Human Resources department will be tasked with hiring 90 additional workers, ranging from administrative staff to mechanical and mechatronics engineers. All three phases will be built by the end of 2024.
