Knight Transportation testing new Cummins Natural Gas Engine in California

Kenworth test tractor unit

USA  – Set to be released in 2024, Knight Transportation Inc has been testing the new CumminsX15N natural gas engine from Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana in Southern California, reporting strong results. Cummins claims that this product delivers diesel-like performance in terms of power, durability and reliability. If true, this product will allow fleet operators to reduce carbon emissions by running on renewable natural gas. This engine is compliant with the clean air quality control regulations set out by the California Air Resources Board* (CARB).

The truck testing the X15N, has been fuelled exclusively with low-carbon renewable natural gas supplied by Clean Energy Inc, at its RNG station in Carson, California. The field testing with Knight Transportation will continue until series production of the X15N powertrain in 2024.
