Light-duty bus sales enjoy surge in demand in Q2 of FY2023-24

India - Sales of light-duty buses (7.5t & below) surged by 24% to register 13,142 units in Q2 of FY 2023-24 from 10,595 units in Q2 of FY2022-23. Production increased by 57.9% from 4,288 units to 6,771 units, while exports (of smaller significance in terms of numbers) grew by 41.1% from 628 units to 886 units.
The minibus segment with seats more than 13 seats (GVW ≤ 5 tons no. of seats including the driver exceeding 13) saw domestic sales shrink by 5.3% to register 4,102 units in Q2 of FY 2023-24, down from 4,332 units in Q2 of FY 2022-23. Production, in contrast, increased by 25.3%, while smaill volume export sales fell by 35.5%.
