Bus and coach sales enjoys spectacular growth in Q2 of FY2023-24

India – Domestic sales of buses and coaches (7.5t gvw and above) increased by 47.7% in the second quarter (July to September, Q2) of the financial year 2023-24 to register 11,321 units, up from 7,665 units in the same period of FY 2022-23. Total bus production also increased in the Q2 of FY 2023-24 and by 50.1% to 12,251 units (8,163). Total exports increased by 17.3% in Q2 of FY 2023-24 to record 2,519 units, up from 2,148 units in Q2 FY 2022-23.
Turning to the individual segments, sales of medium-duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes - 12 tonnes) improved by 16.4% from 4,885 units in the second quarter of FY 2022-23 to 5,684 units in same quarter for FY 2023-24. Production of medium-duty buses increased by 42.7% to 6,558 units in Q2 of FY 2023-24 from 4,596 units; exports enjoyed a meteoric rise of 119.1%.
