UK truck market achieves best performance since pandemic in Q3 2023

UK – The UK market for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs, i.e., trucks >6t) in the third quarter of 2023 saw its best performance of any quarter since the end of 2019, according to statistics published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 

11,531 HGVs were registered between July and September, representing a 14.9% improvement compared to the same period of the year prior. Articulated truck registrations grew by 16.1% to 5,238 units, while rigid truck registrations increased by 13.9% to 6,293. Of the artic trucks, 2-axle registrations fell by 10% to 468, while 3-axle registrations grew by 19.5% to 4,770 units.
