Einride electrifies German logistics centre

Kaufland e-charging park in Möckmühl

Germany / Sweden – Swedish software development company and autonomous vehicle fleet operator, Einride AB*, has announced that it has been contracted by German hypermarket firm, Kaufland, to electrify its logistics centre in Möckmühl, Germany. Earlier this month, Einride opened an e-charging park at the distribution centre. The park houses eight lanes, each with a 350 kW DC charger servicing eight 40-tonne Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 electric trucks responsible for moving up to 20,800 pallets a month to Kaufland’s stores located in the Ludwigsburg area.

The company has calculated that the CO2 savings could reach upwards of 860 metric tons per year. In a statement, the company said that the vehicles acquired (Mercedes-Benz eActros 300) are already electric. However, all the vehicles have customised Einride solutions to ensure optimal suitability for freight transport. Additionally, the vehicles are powered by the Einride Saga intelligent platform (digital freight operating system), to optimise routes, charging needs and achieve the highest utilisation rates.
