Quantron US signs MoU with Canadian plastics-to-hydrogen firm at CES 2024

Andreas Haller of Quantron and John Zorbas of FusionOne at CES 2024

USA – At the Consumer Electronics Show, held 9-12 January in Las Vegas, Nevada, Quantron US Inc of Auburn Hills, Michigan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FusionOne Energy Corp of Toronto, Ontario, Canada to provide hydrogen fuel to Quantron customers in North America.

FusionOne’s business proposition is based on a proprietary technology which converts plastic waste into hydrogen. The company diverts single use plastics from landfill and shreds it before putting it in its trademarked ‘HydroPlas’ reactor. The plastic undergoes thermal decomposition, a process which FusionOne says takes place in an oxygen-less controlled environment and which therefore produces no emissions. This process produces syngas, which is then separated and purified into carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The 99.97% pure hydrogen is perfectly suitable as a fuel, according to FusionOne.
