USAPeterbilt Motors Company, a subsidiary of Paccar based in Denton, Texas, has announced that new ‘Model 579’ trucks will come with enhanced collision mitigation features as standard through the ‘Wingman Fusion’ advanced driver assistance system developed by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems of Elyria, Ohio.

For the first time, the Model 579 will incorporate automatic “stop & go” functionality for resuming a pre-set cruise speed after an automatic braking event. The truck will accelerate to the initial cruise speed without driver intervention, when it can progress forward at a safe following distance.
