Torc selects Aeva lidar for autonomous Daimler trucks

Aeva lidar system

USATorc Robotics Inc, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck North America based in Blacksburg, Virginia, has selected Aeva Technologies Inc of Mountain View, California to supply its lidar technology for Daimler Truck’s series-production autonomous trucks.

Aeva will supply its automotive grade 4D lidar, ‘Aeva Atlas’, beginning later this decade. It boasts a maximum range of 500 metres, using laser imaging to provide the self-driving truck with a view of the road ahead and of surrounding road users and obstacles. It is powered by Aeva’s own perception algorithms and system-on-chip technology.
