Gillig purchases Lightning eMotors assets after EV startup falls into receivership

Former Lightning eMotors HQ in Loveland, Colorado

USAGillig LLC, a bus manufacturer based in Livermore, California, has announced that it acquired some of the assets of Lightning eMotors Inc, an electric vehicle retrofit firm based in Loveland, Colorado which was placed into receivership at the end of last year.

Though the company dates back to 2009, Lightning eMotors began producing battery electric vehicles in 2018, expanding its portfolio to include vans, transit and schools buses, and utility trucks. These were based on glider chassis supplied primarily by Ford, which Lightning eMotors fitted with electric powertrains at its site in Colorado.
