ZF opens new CV electrical components plant in Tamil Nadu

Opening ceremony held at new ZF plant in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu

Germany / India – On 14 February, ZF Friedrichshafen AG of Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg opened another manufacturing facility in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where it will produce electrical components for the Indian and Asian commercial vehicle markets.

The plant, which is located in an industrial suburb of Chennai (called Oragadam), will produce various electrical components for CV chassis and, in the near future, air compressors for light- and medium-duty vehicles. Spanning more than 7,000 square metres, the new plant will eventually be doubled in size to 15,300 square metres following a second phase of construction work. ZF says that it is investing EUR200m up until 2032 in the plant.
