Van Hool considers its options as it abandons its business recovery plan

Van Hool's original plan would have seen the end of its coach manufacturing operations in Belgium

Belgium – On Tuesday, 26 March, Van Hool NV – the bus, coach, and trailer manufacturer based in Koningshooikt, Antwerp – published a notice explaining that, due to internal disputes among shareholders and the Van Hool family, the “recovery plan” which it outlined earlier this month is no longer viable.

Marc Zwaaneveld, the new Co-CEO responsible for drawing up and implementing an action plan to put the company back on track, had set a target date of 31 March for shareholder approval of his “Van Hool Recovery Plan”. However, the company has since admitted that “an inheritance dispute” among shareholders and the Van Hool family “has complicated the planned actions”.
