Italy / Switzerland Carrosserie HESS AG, based in Bellach, Switzerland, has received an order for 16 units of its lighTram Tosa double-articulating trolleybus from the Italian city of Vicenza thanks to EUR 19 million in state funding to local transport company SVT, who plan to deploy the fleet on the LAM Rossa line in 2027. Hitachi Energy, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd of Tokyo, Japan, has won the contract to install charging stations along the line using flash charging technology. These trolleybuses are already in operation in multiple Swiss cities, such as Bern, Zurich, Lausanne, Lucerne, and St. Gallen.

According to Hess, these buses will cover a distance of over 55,000 km a year, saving an estimated 62,500 tonnes of CO2 per year, when compared to a Euro 6 diesel bus equivalent.
